Fret No More! Science Confirms Single People Are Happier Than We Think
While this year has been dubbed #shootyourshot2017, science is finally confirming it's okay to remain single.
According to researcher Bella DePaulo, a scientist at the University of California, Santa Barbara, single people tend to stay more connected to their parents, siblings, friends, neighbors and coworkers. More importantly, DePaulo, who researched the topic for a 2016 paper, discovered self-sufficient single people, who were analyzed for a lifelong study, were less likely to experience negative emotions.
In addition, Happify, a company whose apps and site provides evidence-based solutions for better emotional health and wellbeing, created the below graphic to explain why single people are happier than many people are willing to believe.
So, no need to bury your feelings in tequila this Valentine’s Day (unless you’re rejoicing), here are a slew of science-backed facts why being single isn’t the worst thing in the world.
