Can Men Survive Without Women? I Think Not! Here's the Supporting Evidence
As someone who is passionate about topics regarding dating, relationships and sex, I am constantly observing how couples interact as well as on the lookout for exciting conversations. Last month, my family and I attended my grandmother’s funeral in Port Maria, Jamaica. With little access to Wi-Fi and limited phone connection, I had an ample amount of time for self-reflection and observation (read post here). I often found myself observing all the couples. What I found interesting is the men in my family, as a matter fact men in general, are helpless without their wives.
Example Number 1:
My dad is a great business man. He is the founder and vice president of a very successful FAA approved repair station that specializes in aircraft interior repairs. My step-mother, who is the president of the company, literally keeps him together in all aspects of life, from the office to at home. There is not a moment she does not keep the day running smoothly. In preparation for my grandmother’s funeral, my dad and step-mother planned their flight itinerary to arrive in Jamaica a few days ahead of schedule to ensure all the necessary funeral arrangements are made. My step-mother opted to arrive a couple of days before my father to spend time with her sister. My father rarely takes trips without his wife, as she ensures he is packed and arrives at the airport for his flight in a timely manner. However, this time around, without his wife, he missed his flight.
Example Number 2:
My uncle John, whose wife wasn’t able to attend due to work; my uncle Lincoln, who is married to my Aunt Jacqui, myself and my cousin Christina all made reservations at the RIU in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, during the week of the funeral. The night prior to the funeral, my uncle Lincoln, who is the eldest brother, gave us all strict rules to be in the lobby of the hotel 11 a.m. sharp. Christina and I arrived at the lobby at 10:45 a.m. My uncle Lincoln and aunt Jacqui were already in the lobby awaiting our arrival. Once the clock struck 11, my uncle inquired about uncle John’s whereabouts. Another 10-15 minutes went by and still no uncle John. My uncle John finally descended to the lobby roughly 20 after the hour, a little disheveled and not dressed. As Christina and I sat in the car, I said to her, “He would not have been late if aunt Sheryl was here.”
Example Number 3:
My uncle Lincoln forgot to pack flip flops for the beach. It was interesting, and quite cute, to watch him ask his wife for help to do something as simple as helping him select a comfortable pair of flip flops.
I know you’re thinking, the men in my family simply have an issue with being timely, but it is deeper than that. Women are the glue that holds everything together. There is truth in the quote, “Behind every successful man is a great woman.”
